SATURDAY, 9:40 am: Bloomberg - "Don't Wait for the Last Train"

Saturday, August 27, 2011 - 09:42 AM

Mayor Bloomberg gave a live update this morning - the gist? Take evacuations seriously, even though 'it's fun to catch a big wave,' stay off the beach, and don't wait to evacuate.

"It isn't cute to sit there and say I'm tougher than any storm," said the mayor.

You can keep track of all city and state statements on the Empire blog, and if your'e determined to get around post-MTA shutdown at noon, you should know that you don't have too many options.

And I guess the mayor does not need to catch the train home this afternoon after work? Shutting down transit 12 hours before the storm even gets near the city is a gross over reaction.
