Vera Farmiga at the WNYC studios (Melissa Eagan)

Oscar-nominated actress Vera Farmiga discusses making her directorial debut with the film “Higher Ground,” which she also stars in. It’s based on Carolyn S. Brigg's memoir This Dark World, which follows a woman's immersion into fundamentalist Christian faith and her decision, 20 years later, to leave it all behind. “Higher Ground” opens August 26 at Lincoln Plaza Cinemas and Angelika Film Center.

this is all very interesting, but i wonder if the endless dissecting, of the inner lives, of actors and their process, does not take away a bit, from our enjoyment of film. too much inside baseball perhaps,no?
