If you thought the golden years of MTV’s “Unplugged” series ended with classics like “Nirvana: Unplugged” and “Lauryn Hill: Unplugged,” guess again. The Mexican psych-rock band Zoé just released its unplugged album this year, and it's already gone double-platinum in the band’s home country — debuting at No. 1 on the Mexican charts.

The album replaces the band’s usual dense, plugged-in textures with the sounds of acoustic guitar, a grand piano, and even a string orchestra. It also couldn’t have hurt that the disc features plenty of special appearances from Latin alt-rock royalty, including Adrian Dargelos of Argentina’s Babasonicos and Mexican indie queen Lo Blondo, who adds her delicate croon to the chorus of this song “Soñe.”

On Friday, Zoé taps into the vibrant Latin rock scene in Woodside and Jackson Heights, Queens by playing at La Boom, a local nightclub.
