WNYC began visiting the World Trade Center site in April 2010 and continues to document the construction of 1 World Trade Center, the 9/11 Memorial, the transportation hub and the people working on the site.

Despite crippling summer heat, workers carried on and are on schedule to complete construction of the Memorial Plaza and Memorial Pools in time for the 10th anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks this fall. Today, 1 World Trade Center has 69 floors with concrete poured and 78 floors of steel.

Now that the governors of New York & New Jersey have gotten themselves more involved in this World Trade Center mess... Their new proposal is for a more modest toll increase of, $1.50 ~ (for Easy Pass)?

Come On...! ?
Where's all the money going in & out of the system?
And how about the report in the news today exposing the Big Abu$e in over-time wage payments in the Port Authority...
And, still, we (the NYC commuters) are supposed to bail these ( ? ) guys out ???
This is a Big Joke.
And The Joke is on us.

The World Trade Center Tower site is no "sacred white elephant" ~ Now, it's only a rip-off, and we've given it to ourselves.
At this point, it's just another hole in the ground ( ), and we're supposed to keep paying...? $$$ ?

Check out the documentary -
911 MYSTERIES - The Demolitions
And then consider our memory of the dead.

What is this scam?
With all the talk about creating more jobs, improved infrastructure, & "American pride" (?)
So, The Port Authority proposes an outrageous toll increase! ($4.00)...And then, (to the rescue) comes a counter-proposal, and compromise... And now, all we're supposed to pay is a meager toll increase of ($1.50)???
This is a victory... (?)
No, this is just another rip-off >
$1.50 / commute.
And The Port Authority will be happy to take more of our money.
Wake Up !

it's weird, as "nice" as these photos are and as "nice" as the building looks - all shiny and new...I feel it's just wrong wrong wrong for it to be built this way...this, on a very gut level, feels and LOOKS like the development of another site - not the ground where the original towers stood - not the site where the airplanes flew into the buildings and people had to choose between jumping to their death or burning alive.

It's a testament written in the NYC skyline of how little say the public - the PEOPLE - have in the goings on in this city and in government in general.
A testament to politicians who allow themselves to run a third term without consulting the PEOPLE if they may.

We will have to live with these towers - and WTC from what I understand will be empty on the top half. AWESOME! why build the f-ing thing!

Thanks, WNYC.
These are beautiful photos of the new World Trade Center Tower and site.
And another colorful testimony to our gullibility and stupidity.

On WNYC this week, on the evening news, I briefly heard a very disturbing story involving the huge cost overruns on the current World Trade Center project, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey with their proposal to significantly raise the tolls on the bridges and tunnels in order to help balance these cost overruns. (during peak hours of transit?)
What is this...!?
Doing "due diligence" after the fact...after the situation is out of control ?
"oopsi" (?)
Who is (was) responsible for this budget, and managing this project?
This is (like) robbery, and our own stupidity.
But the most disturbing fact revealed in this news story is that once the new World Trade Center Tower is completed there are very few potential tenants who will want, or be able to afford a lease. In other words, this building will, more than likely, not be able to sustain itself.
The new World Trade Center Tower and site is no sacred "white elephant".
