I'm not in Weiner's district, but I would hazard a couple guesses as to why his election in 2010 was so, relatively speaking, close.

First, Obama and the Democratic Congress did next to nothing to help the non-Uberwealthy hurt by the Big Financial Credit Defalt Instruments Mess. There was general disappointment, even shock, that a Dem prez and Dem Congress would not do things for the little people.

They gave the banksters trillions (including the $12+ Trillion given to them out the back door of the Fed).

For us little people? Hah! Under the bus with you guys. They made it clear they do not work for us.

Second, Weiner made a huge splash by speaking forcefully AGAINST Obama's Big Health Industry Players' Profit Protection Plan. He declared he would bring up a Conyers' type single payer health CARE bill in committee and predicted he could get it passed, perhaps with Republican help.

He did not do so; he announced that he had agreed with House leadership to not bring it up, and then Speaker Pelosi guaranteed he could bring something like that on the floor of the House. --single payer or real "public option." He never said much more nor did he say anything more about that vote.

I was extremely disappointed, and that is what broke what developing trust I had in Weiner.

Words seem to mean so little to our current pols, except to fool the voters into choosing to vote for them. Obama said so much that he has not done, in fact is doing much the opposite. I just can't accept mere words from a pol anymore; there must be concrete actions. And not just "show off" votes with no meaning.
