Find out what Jeffrey Lyons, son of Leonard Lyons, has been reading and watching after a recent appearance on The Leonard Lopate Show.

What have you read or seen lately (book, play, film, etc.) that moved or surprised you?

No Ordinary Time, by Doris Kearns Goodwin

Stan Musial

Movies – I saw every movie, just about – “Midnight in Paris” is the best movie of 2011 so far.

TV – “Keith Olbermann’s Countdown” every night, MLBTV’s Baseball Roundup

What are you listening to right now?

Sixties Rock ‘n’ Roll and movie scores.

What’s the last great book you read?

The Spanish Civil War

What’s one thing you’re a fan of that people might not expect?

Bullfighting, introduced to me by Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles. Indefensible, I know, but there it is. Also baseball trivia – I co-wrote 3 books with my brother on it.

What’s your favorite comfort food?

Mariella’s Pizza, paella

This show was simply fascinating. I worked at Channel11 behind the scenes when Lyons was there and I feel terribly ignorant in not knowing his interesting family history. I now live in London and am wondering how much it will cost to import this weighty tome.
