Look | New York City's 2011 Pride March

New York City's Pride March began 30 years ago as a demonstration of civil rights. The organizers estimated 300,000 would take part and some 500,000 spectators would watch Sunday's parade, which featured floats and music.

Following Friday's vote by the New York State Senate to legalize same-sex marriage, the atmosphere was jubilant and celebratory.
