Live on Soundcheck: Erik Friedlander

New York cellist Erik Friedlander is known for his experimental collaborations with saxophonist and composer John Zorn. But his new project and album, Bonebridge, takes a trip to the American south for inspiration. Check out the video below for his live, in-studio performance of the song "Beaufain Street." It's named after a mansion-lined road that leads down to the ocean in Charleston, South Carolina, where Friedlander spent time last summer completing the album. He told Soundcheck host John Schaefer that he felt the spirit of the city infused some of the music so he named some of the pieces after Charleston.
