Vigil Held for Victim of Long Island Killer

Friday, June 10, 2011

The family of a young woman whose body was found along Ocean Parkway on Long Island are holding a candlelight vigil Saturday.

Megan Waterman was one of four women found on the side of the highway in December, sparking a wide-ranging police investigation into a possible serial killer.

Waterman, 22, was from Maine and last seen at a Holiday Inn in Hauppauge.

Her mother and brother are coming from Maine for the vigil.

Since the police discovered the four bodies of women, all of whom advertised as prostitutes on Craigslist, six other sets of human remains have been found, including the body of another woman, Jessica Taylor, also a prostitute.

One of the remains is believed to have been a small child, and another a male.

No suspects have been named, but police have not ruled out that there may be multiple killers responsible for the killings.
