Let the Wiener jokes commence.
New York Representative Anthony Weiner sends out a lot of tweets from his Twitter account, ranging from the indignant to the mundane:
"Spouse of #ConflictedClarenceThomas has every right to work for whomever, but he must recuse himself."
"my tivo ate the hockey game! #WhoCanISue?"
Now the New York Democrat is being accused of sending out a lewd photo from his Twitter account to a Seattle college student. The photo, which is described by The Associated Press as a close up of "a man's bulging underpants," was promptly deleted.
"Anthony's accounts were obviously hacked," Weiner spokesman Dave Arnold told the AP. "He doesn't know the person named by the hacker, and we will be consulting on what steps to take next." Arnold called the incident "a distraction" from the congressman's "important work representing his constituents."
The photo was reported Saturday by BigGovernment.com, a Web site run by conservative commentator Andrew Breitbart. The site said the picture of a man in his underpants was tweeted to a Seattle woman. The photo was quickly deleted. Biggovernment.com has not responded to a request for comment.
Weiner later joked about the incident on Twitter, asking whether his kitchen blender would be next to attack him.
