Perjury and the Ethics of American Life

Monday, May 30, 2011

James Stewart discusses what he sees as an epidemic of perjury sweeping our country, undermining the foundation of our courts, and explains why he thinks it’s symptomatic of a broader breakdown of ethics in American life. Tangled Webs: How False Statements are Undermining America: From Martha Stewart to Bernie Madoff goes behind the scenes of the trials of Martha Stewart, Lewis "Scooter" Libby, Barry Bonds, and Bernard Madoff, and includes interviews with prosecutors, investigators, and participants speaking for the first time. The book looks at age-old tensions between greed and justice, self-interest and public interest, loyalty and duty.

James Stewart's book of yellow journalism on Martha Stewart was previously promoted here on April 19, 2011.

The biggest propagandist for James Stewart and his book of deceit on Ms. Stewart is National Public Radio, which is his de facto sponsor. It is a national agenda of National Public Radio to hype and hawk James Stewart and his "tangled webs" of fiction on Martha Stewart, victimizing her in a vendetta of lies that lines his pockets with easy money. Taxpayer resources should not be used in any way for the personal enrichment of James Stewart. This makes a compelling case for the complete defunding of National Public Radio.

The name of Martha Stewart should never be in the title of this book of disrepute. James Stewart is lying brazenly about Ms. Stewart and also engaged in a "breakdown of ethics" regarding DePauw University, which is hyping and hawking his book of yellow journalism on Martha Stewart. In using the resources of DePauw and hijacking its institutional stature, James Stewart is abusing and misusing his position as a trustee of DePauw for his personal enrichment and abusing and misusing the non-profit status of DePauw for his own financial gain. Immorally condoning prosecutorial malfeasance and legal malpractice, James Stewart is engaged in ruthless lying on Martha Stewart with the complicity of the propagandist media, including National Public Radio.

No evidence existed of any "false statements" by Martha Stewart. Not one single word spoken by Ms. Stewart or the Bush persecutors was recorded in a transcript or in sworn testimony; she was never under oath at any time, so perjury is of no relevance to her. James Stewart has no personal knowledge of the facts; he is abusing and misusing his free speech rights in his vendetta of brazen lies on Martha Stewart.

For his own financial gain, James Stewart is targeting the destruction of jobs and shareholder value embodied by Martha Stewart; the same evil deed that was previously accomplished by the SEC and the Bush persecutors in targeting the destruction of Ms. Stewart for political gain in a witch hunt similar to a McCarthy witch hunt.

The Martha Stewart case stands as a condemnation of the legal system; it is a blot on American democracy; and President Barack Obama owes her a presidential pardon.

Funny how I never heard the president of the US referred to as "the highest law enforcement officer in the land"--or as a law enforcement officer at all--until Bill Clinton was being impeached.
