Moby on Insomnia, Travel, and "Destroyed"

Wednesday, May 11, 2011

Moby talks about his new album and book of photographs, “Destroyed.” The book Destroyed features 55 photographs taken all over the world, and helps to show the strange and disconcerting life of touring that is rarely seen—time spent isolated in anonymous, mundane spaces like hotel rooms, airports, and backstage waiting areas. Songs on the album “Destroyed” were written mostly late at night, in hotel rooms around the world when cities had gone to sleep. Clic Gallery in New York City will host “Destroyed: Photographs by Moby,” an exhibition May 12-June 26 featuring photos and multimedia work from “Destroyed.”

What an enigmatic and intelligent sounding guy... although some of his statements may not seem consistent, he sounds sincere, and I am interested in people willing to discuss giving up a life of drug and alcohol addictions, as they can inspire others struggling with the same. Thanks for sharing.

Moby describes himself as growing up poor and white trash. But then talks about being forced to study music theory. Doesn't add up.

Moby, c'mon. White trash kids don't get classical music lessons!

In any case, I love listening to your music while driving--it puts me in the right zone.

Maybe you were just poor...but definitely not white trash.

I disagree with Moby when he says “NYC is not fun when you're sober”. I’ve been sober for years and I find the variety of culture NYC has to offer is even more enjoyable in sobriety.

Album is the correct term for a collection of songs released as a group, regardless of the storage media (12" vinyl, cd, cassette, 8-track, or digital download). Maybe you can follow up with Patricia in the next hour.

What is Moby talking about? L.A. is cheap? WTF? That is not true! Plus you need a car to get anywhere and that is definitely a big part of living expenses. Moby, you've been rich too long.
