Filmmaker Melvin van Peebles Gets Graphic

Monday, November 23, 2009

Melvin Van PeeblesĀ  is known as the "godfather of independent film and modern black cinema." He directed and stars in his film "Confessions of a Ex-Doofus-Itchy Footed Mutha."

The film is based on a graphic novel of the same name, which van Peebles also wrote. It's part-adventure, part-love story, "It's fun sometimes to let the ragged edges show," van Peebles said. "So that people can feel and see and understand. I like it like that."
