Newsday columnist Joye Brown comments on the decision by the Nassau Interim Finance Authority (NIFA) to declare a fiscal emergency and freeze the county's 8,100 public workers' salaries.
The residents and taxpayers in Nassau County are victims of liberal Democrat political mismanagement; that includes overly generous payment to government union workers. One of the many true stories that WNYC & NPR ignored in 2009 & 2010 was the massive change in county executive and legislative leadership from Democrat back to Republican, in counties in the NY Metro area and all across the county. Please discuss - Do former government employees from liberal states migrate to low tax states for their retirement - taking their benefits paid by taxpayers from the liberal state to spend in the new location?Seems like a good strategy for red states.
