Two Officers Killed in Separate Incidents Mourned on Long Island

A fallen police officer is being remembered as man of generous spirit who often comforted grieving family members visiting the World Trade Center site.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Ray Kelly were among the speakers this morning at Officer Alain Schaberger's funeral in East Islip, Long Island. Schaberger was pushed over a railing and fell down a stairwell during a domestic violence call in Brooklyn.

He is one of two police officers being mourned today on Long Island.

This afternoon, a funeral will be held in Selden for Nassau County Officer Geoffrey Breitkopf, who died in a friendly fire incident in Massapequa Park.
