Songs are often more like questions than answers. They're starting points for consideration, introspection, and inspiration. Host David Garland presents some songs that wonder about time, sung by Judy Collins, Scarlett Johannson, Justin Victoria Bond, and Scott Walker, and secular songs about god by John Lennon, Robert Wyatt, Sufjan Stevens, and others. Plus some joyful songs about the moment of now.

O

Can you please tell me what song played directly after John Lennon 'God'? It was incredible.

What this series of God songs illustrates more than anything else is the shocking degradation and dissolution of songwriting and singing talent since the hayday of John Lennon and Brian Wilson (Sufjan Stevens excluded). Aside from those artists, each song more tuneless, ugly, turgid, amateurish and unlistenable than the next.
