Fire Erupts at Con Edison Power Plant in East Village

A transformer fire broke out at a Con Edison substation in the East Village this afternoon.

The fire erupted at 2:20 p.m. Wednesday at a facility on East 14th Street near Avenue D. No injuries were reported. The utility said there have been no reported power outages and the electrical transmission system is stable.
