Wednesday, March 02, 2011

A man arrested in a deadly police shootout last summer was cleared of any criminal charge in the melee that occurred after a Harlem block party.

Angel Alvarez, 24, had all charges against him dismissed by a grand jury in Manhattan federal court Wednesday.

is expected to find out if he has been indicted in the August 8 shooting when he was shot at least 15 times. He denies firing at officers. Police, which fired 46 bullets, said they fired at Alvarez after he shot at them.

Two officers and three bystanders were injured, and the man Alvarez was fighting was killed.
