Friday, February 25, 2011

The National Weather Service issued a high wind warning in effect from 3 p.m. until 11 p.m. for the city. Sustained winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts reaching 60 mph were predicted for Friday.

LaGuardia airport is experiencing delays of up to three hours, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Newark is reporting delays of up to three hours, and flights out of JFK are delayed by 2 and a half hours.

The New York City area is experiencing a clash between a warm front and an incoming cold front, which is stirring up the strong winds.
