The Documentary Short "Killing in the Name"

Thursday, February 24, 2011

Jed Rothstein, producer of the Oscar-nominated short documentary “Killing in the Name,” investigates what gives rise to terrorism and what its true costs are. The film follows Ashraf Al-Khaled, whose wedding was the target of a suicide bomber that killed his father and 26 other family members in front of his eyes. He’s breaking the code of silence in the Muslim community by speaking out against terrorism. "Killing in the Name" is playing through Sunday, February 27, at IFC Center.

I was troubled while watching the film that the Ashraf's message was that it's wrong to kill other Muslims. The implicit message was that it's ok to kill Jews and Christians. Does that actually represent his feelings?
