The art-rock band with an extra long name …And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead recently visited WNYC's Soundcheck studios. The group performed music from its seventh album, Tao of the Dead, which includes illustrations by frontman Conrad Keely.
The band members initially won the hearts of fans through the group's intimidating name, high-octane shows and reputation for leaving behind a trail of broken, bloodied instruments in its wake. “I grew up with prog-rock,” Keely told Soundcheck host John Schaefer. He added that the band’s sound also has a touch of the psychedelic. “This record was just the first time we got to see it through,” Keely said. “You could see hints of it in our last record, and even our first record I think of as psychedelia in a lot of ways.”
