Live on Soundcheck: Todd Snider
Wednesday, February 02, 2011
Todd Snider has been criss-crossing the country for over 15 years playing his talking blues-style, self-described hippy music to like-minded people. Says Snider: "It's an easy job, but someone's got to do it."
This song, "Conservative Christian, Right Wing Republican, Straight, White, American Males" is one Snider has played all across the country in red states as well as blue ones. "I'm a flaming liberal," Snider told Soundcheck host John Schaefer. But his audience doesn't seem to mind. "Surprisingly, it doesn't seem to matter where I go, the part of town I'm going to be in is the hippy part of town," Snider said. "I'm always in the used-book store, used-clothing store, 'someone's got a conga drum playing in the park'-part of town."
In this song, Snider sings "I know who I like to blame: conservative Christian, right wing Republican, straight, white, American males."
