Authorities ID Bodies of Three Women Found Near Jones Beach

Monday, January 24, 2011

The bodies of three women found near Jones Beach on Long Island have been identified as escorts or prostitutes who advertised their services online and may have been the victim of a serial killer, officials said.

The women were identified as Melissa Barthelemey of the Bronx, Maureen Branard-Barnes of Norwich, Conn., and Amber Lynn Costello, of North Babylon, Long Island. The deaths may have been the work of a serial killer, District Attorney Thomas Spota said Monday.

One of the women was identified last week as a missing Craigslist escort from Maine.
