Easy Being Green: Jets Fans Rally in Times Square

Friday, January 21, 2011

Jets fans -- accustomed to rooting for the underdog -- no longer have to be green with envy.

Mayor Bloomberg led Gang Green fans in a Times Square pep rally Thursday night in advance of the team's playoff game against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday. The winner of the match-up will be Super Bowl-bound.

"I came out here as a Giants fan to root for the Jets because they haven't won a Super Bowl since 1969, and it's time for them to shine some light on New York and spread the green around," Ronald Harvin, of Queens, said at the rally.

The Jets face the Steelers in Pittsburgh.
