Lou Reed's classic solo album 'Transformer.' Lou Reed's classic solo album 'Transformer.'

When Lou Reed died on October 27th at age 71 he left behind many beautiful, surprising songs for us to experience. David Garland has been listening to a lot of Lou Reed lately, and presents some of his favorites, dating from Reed's music with The Velvet Underground in the 1960s, to more recent recordings, with an emphasis on Reed's song-portraits of New York City outsiders.

RIP, my old friend. I never knew him but he'll always be in my life. When I was twelve I used to listed to my big brother's vinyl "transformer". Each time I had a class of music in the school (you know, the teacher always used to play Beethoven, Bach, Vivaldi, etc) and I played my vinyl with their admiration; I boy with 12 or 13 listen to Lou Reed. Now, at my 45, I keep lisneting the vinyl (mew copy).Greeting from Madrid, Lou, and enjoy your new life. RIP.
