I'm a big fan of the 'man store' in my town, called Mercury Trading Company. They have got a load of cool guy stuff, from shaving and nice colognes to cigars, really good chocolate, hot sauces, Ray-Ban's and Oakleys. The list goes on. Definitely check them out. They're at the King's shopping center on Rt 202/Morristown Road.

I make hand-made watercolor Christmas cards (and all-occasion, and Hanukkah---think of next year!). They're hand-painted, but then printed, so they're only $2 each, and they're pretty damn charming while still being somewhat acerbic.

See them at www.notthispig.com

I will deliver to central Manhattan, or you can find them at Three Lives Bookshop in the West Village.

Also a shout-out to West Side Kids, GREAT toy store!

This holiday, THINK DIFFERENT FUTURE at Revolution Books; 146 West 26th St., N.Y.,N.Y. 10001

No, Virginia, there is no Santa Claus. But there is an imperialist state, a growing Christian fascist movement, the destruction of the planet, the mass incarceration of youth of color, vast debt in service of economic plunder, and no hope within established politics. So . . . if you are looking for a different future, one free of creationist theme parks, concentration camp...s for immigrants, and handsome retirement plans for torturers, come on down to Revolution Books!

We feature a “Take the Holy Out of the Holidays Survival Kit” which includes three great books: The Atheist’s Guide to Christmas, Away With All Gods, and the just-published Constitution for a New Socialist State in North America (Draft Proposal), plus stocking stuffers like a tin of Last Supper After-Dinner Mints, aerosol Mitzvah Tank Repellent, and a bottle of the ever-useful Sarah Palin Faith-Based Birth Control Pills -- all in a bright red Revolution Books tote bag.

This year THINK DIFFERENT FUTURE with gifts that will inspire and provoke everyone on your list. We've selected 100 books that matter including cutting-edge revolutionary theory from Bob Avakian, critical new books on Black America by Michelle Alexander and Isabel Wilkerson, new books from Edwidge Danticat and Walter Mosley, plus science and history titles, critical-thinking children’s books and books in Spanish. Ensure the survival of Revolution Books, not Wikileaks-busting internet giants. A radically different world IS possible!

To check out events at Revolution Books every night through December 21, go to www.revolutionbooksnyc.org

Open 12 noon - 8 pm everyday through December 24

For new mothers who have a baby near the holidays, hospital support for infant feeding is sometimes less available. So, for mothers who need a little assistance with breastfeeding, the New York Lactation Consultant Association (NYLCA), a nonprofit professional organization, lists breastfeeding groups in New York City. A gift of a group visit can help mothers get both professional and that very important "mommy" support. The women who run these groups are all small business owners who are board certified. The link is: http://www.nylca.org/parents/services/breastfeeding_groups/

The company has been working on developing the patent pending Gear Ring for over a year and this is their first rotating/spinning piece. A product for both men and women, the ring is elegant yet striking, with comfort styling and smooth movement at the attractive retail price. The price includes free world wide shipping, comes with a lifetime warranty and can be purchased online.
