
In his last years he was best known for his radio "Letters from America," and for his role as host of Masterpiece Theater. But Alistair Cooke, who died earlier this week at the age of 95, was also host of "Omnibus," a ground-breaking 1950s variety television show which served as a model for this very radio program.
