People’s (Word) Choice

Last week the American Dialect Society voted “Weapons of Mass Destruction” as Word of the Year. Dean finds the choice less than inspiring, and goes on the offensive with the help of writer Steve Almond and New Yorker cartoonist Roz Chast. On the defense: Michigan State University Professor of Linguistics Dennis Preston, who just completed his term as President of the ADS.
