Spinning On Air

(David Garland/WNYC)Ben Reynolds, George Stavis, Cian Nugent
Three creative composer/instrumentalists perform their music: Ben Reynolds is a young English guitarist who lives in Scotland, and he gives us two lyrical solo pieces and one song. George Stavis' first album of innovative banjo music was released in 1969. 20 years later in 1989 he first performed on Spinning On Air, and now Stavis returns to the show. That 19-year gap between Stavis' first visit and this one also happens to be a lifetime (so far) for 19 year-old Irish musician Cian Nugent, who performs a pair of elegant piece for six and 12-string guitar. Host David Garland welcomes these musicians to the WNYC Studio, and talks with them about their music.
