    Bernstein's Possibilities of Song

As part of WNYC's "Our Lenny" celebration of Leonard Bernstein's music and influence, host David Garland presents both some of Bernstein's own songs, and the work of contemporary songwriters such as Luke Temple, Sufjan Stevens, My Brightest Diamond, Sport Murphy, Dan Goldman, Ricky Ian Gordon, and others, who seem influenced by Bernstein's model of blending Art and Pop into emotional, sophisticated songs.

Thanks for making new musical connections with Bernstein that have introduced me to new and exciting artists. Can't wait for the play list for tonight's show!

Thank you for a great show! Such a diverse and incredibly gifted group of artists! The way and ease with which David followed the connections and underlining influences between composers, styles, and genres was simply ingenious. This was an airwaves debut of Ricky Ian Gordon’s new CD with soprano Melanie Helton (www.andflowerspickthemselves.com), and what an honorable company!!! Thank you!
