Spinning On Air

(David Garland/WNYC)Laura Marling
Young British songwriter Laura Marling creates engrossing songs colored with shades of anger, forthrightness and joy. She sings them with an agile, emotional voice, accompanying herself on guitar. Here’s a rebroadcast of Laura’s Spinning On Air appearance back in February 2008, when this composer of worldly songs was only 17 years old. Laura Marling joins host David Garland to talk about and perform her songs. She’s back in New York this week for performances at Glasslands Gallery, June 16, and Mercury Lounge, June 18.

Thanks again David!! Missed this show the first time around, Ms. Marling is something else. As a musician myself I can say that I only wish I had this much insight and maturity at 17, she posseses a unique talent. Will get her latest soon, maybe even go to the mercury gig. Thanks for another great show!
Dan, the airport guy from JFK.
i really enjoyed the bits played by laura. i am curious if she is aware of beth orton, because her music sounds exactly like, and i mean exactly like, beth's music -- same sound and similar vibe.
best,
