Guitarist/composer Eric Carbonara creates lyrical pieces that bob and weave around stylistic borders, drawing lines of connection between Andalusian Roma-Flamenco, Hindustani, North African, and North American influences to form a kind of exalted pidgin style of playing that covers a wide emotional terrain from meditative calm to restless intensity. Carbonara joins host David Garland in the WNYC Studio to talk about and perform his music.

Thank you for bringing Eric Carbonara onto your terrific show! Very refreshing and cool! I've been a flamenco / cultural-fusion / multi-genre music lover for many years and dabble in flamenco / classical guitar as an amateur, so it's especially inspiring to hear Eric talk about how & why each piece may sound slightly different each & every time he picks up the instrument - me too - every day and our physical & emotional experiences are different, so it makes perfect sense! Thanks for letting other listener/musicians know that it's all good!
So beautiful & so refreshing set just as his recording i love so much. The release he make for locust series 'wooden guitar' has so much magic.
So it has happened to musician on this magnificent series before like sir richard bishop, Tetuzi Akiyama, Jack Rose and so, Carbonara will be cared about also in some years to come!

I was stuck in traffic last night, ready to well up with frustration and, instead, I welled up in tears. Carbonara's talent is truly transportive, just utterly beautiful.
