Currituck County
Guitarist, singer and composer Kevin Barker performs and records as Currituck County, creating songs that blend traditional finger-picking virtuosity with experimental forms and thoughtful introspection. Kevin has performed on Spinning On Air before with Antony and the Johnsons, Vetiver, and Vashti Bunyan. This time he fulfills a long-standing invitation to play his own music--including a song for Father's Day--in the WNYC Studio. Kevin joins host David Garland to talk about his experiences and influences, and to use his guitar to pilot us past the rocky shores of genre presumptions and conventions. This show first aired April 2, 2006.
