Vashti Bunyan (WNYC/David Garland)
Vashti Bunyan
British songwriter Vashti Bunyan visits Spinning On Air for her first American performance and radio interview. Her new, second album, “Lookaftering,” was released 35 years after her first album, and the story of her earlier artistic discouragement and current renewal of creativity is moving and fascinating. Despite the obscurity of Vashti's early work, her music has been an important influence on young "freak-folk" songwriters such as Devendra Banhart. For this show, Vashti joins host David Garland to talk about her life and music, and to perform some songs in the WNYC Studio.
