The Wingdales Community Singers, left to right: David Grubbs, Rick Moody, Hannah Marcus (WNYC/David Garland)The Wingdale Community Singers
This week Spinning On Air moves to a new time slot, Sundays at 7 pm. This is actually a return to Sunday nights, where the program began on WNYC nearly 20 years ago. Host David Garland is joined in the WNYC studio by the Wingdale Community Singers, who'll perform live and talk about their music. They represent an abstract community, one formed by thoughtful songwriting, a keen eye for detail, subtle storytelling, and an interest in the world around us.

The Wingdales are three people: singer/songwriter Hannah Marcus, novelist Rick Moody, and guitarist David Grubbs, who has a background in avant garde music making. Together they make a homemade style of insightful, unusual songs, many of which give us an intriguing view of the qualities and feelings and people that help form community.
