The Beatles helped introduce a new kind of sonic opulence to pop music in the 1960s. Host David Garland presents some Beatles recordings, intriguing cover versions of Beatles songs, and Sixties pop opulence by Pink Floyd, Love, Phil Ochs, The Mamas and the Papas, Harper's Bizarre, and others.

Tomorrow I will see the recent doc on Phil Ochs so I brought out my LP of Pleasures of the Harbor and while listening did a quick google search for the album and of course, here's another super show from David Garland. Will be listening to this show over the weekend. Fantastic playlist. And LOVE that Harper's Bizarre song too. Cheers!
Phil Ochs "Pleasures of the Harbor" brought me back to a time and place I haven't thought of in many years. What a revelation to hear it again.

Tremendous show -- playlist please!
I love that Pink Floyd song, but when I looked it up online, a different version came up. What's the title and year?
another great show - I know that David is a valued member of the WQXR family these days, but do wish there was more of him on this side of the organization. One hour a week is just a teaser
wonderful concept. And great choices - haven't heard a lot of these in a long time, but they still work very well... Thank you, David
I read that Pink Floyd were recording "Piper" at Abbey Road at the same time the Beatles were recording "Sgt. Pepper".
Is there a playlist for this? Great stuff
Yes Alyson! That was amazing!!
