Sunday, May 23, 2010

Young British composer Laura Marling joins David Garland to perform songs from her new album.

Laura Marling has a gift for song writing. With a fine musical sensibility, and wisdom beyond her years, this young British composer has impressed and moved a lot of listeners during the last few years. She was just 17 when she first visited Spinning On Air in 2008, and now she returns to bring us up to date on her music and thoughts. She talks with host David Garland, and performs in the WNYC Studio some songs from her new album "I Speak Because I Can," as well as two new, unreleased songs (see videos, below). Also featured are recordings from her new album, and performances from Marling's first visit to the program.
