From old gems like Belle Baker's "Baby Your Mother" and the Osmond Brothers' "I Wouldn't Trade the Silver In Mother's Hair For All the Gold In the World," to more modern takes on motherhood from Vashti Bunyan and others, plus laments for mothers lost, by James Brown and John Lennon, host David Garland presents a treasury of songs for Mother's Day.

To Becky: I haven't listened to the show yet, but I believe you're speaking of Sibylle Baier. Her album Colour Green is beautiful. I hope you can find it!
What was the name of that James Brown song? Haunting!
hey, let's have some love for stepmothers! mine appeared a year or so after my mother died when I was twenty. brilliant cellist, classical guitarist, shy, grew up in new york in a high wasp family, went to saint agatha's on west end ave, which she hated. (now st. agnes for boys). moved to benighted south where we're all racist and commit incest, (sarcasm) you can tell a stepmother is good if her step kids call her wicked. my step mother says she's evil. so is doubly wicked. anf the kindest, sweetest person i've ever met. on a par with the dalai lama! april on the yupper west
Loved the Sabilla Beyer music...trying unsuccessfully to find her music online. Can anyone help me with the correct spelling?
