The Woodstock Music & Art Fair, "An Aquarian Exposition," took place in Bethel, New York, 40 years ago this August. It was the nexus--and maybe the climax--of the powerful musical and social forces of the era. Host David Garland offers the sound of the time with music by some of the festival's famous and not-so-famous participants, including Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Sly and the Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix, Tim Hardin, Melanie, The Incredible String Band, Richie Havens, Joan Baez, Country Joe and the Fish, Ten Years After, and Sweetwater.
