The band Deerhoof—vocalist/bassist Satomi Matsuzaki, drummer Greg Saunier, and guitarist John Dieterich—make high-energy experimental music which is somehow also fun, exciting rock. Deerhoof is full of surprises: an exhilarating romp through a sonic world of tuneful melodies, percussion eruptions, guitar virtuosity, and sudden twists and turns. Host David Garland welcomes Deerhoof to the WNYC Studio for a live performance and to talk a bit about how they put their extraordinary music together. This show was first broadcast in March, 2007, and airs tonight to bring attention to WNYC FM 93.9's broadcast of Deerhoof and The Metropolis Ensemble at Celebrate Brooklyn later this week, Friday, August 1st, 8 pm.

I enjoyed conversation with young Argentine composer who studied at Berkley College of Music, and his music. I was driving and didn't write down his name and I couldn't create the spelling of his new album that isn't Gaucho.I can't seem to find the show on the website. Help! Thanks Judith
Wow, David. I just listened to your rebroadcast of the Deerhoof session (New to me, since I missed it when originally aired). They were great! Beyond that, I was impressed, as always, with the rapport that you have with great musicians. My week will now be spent counting down the days and hours until the broadcast of their recent Bklyn show.
