The band Deerhoof—vocalist/bassist Satomi Matsuzaki, drummer Greg Saunier, and guitarist John Dieterich—make high-energy experimental music which is somehow also fun, exciting rock. Deerhoof is full of surprises: an exhilarating romp through a sonic world of tuneful melodies, percussion eruptions, guitar virtuosity, and sudden twists and turns. Host David Garland welcomes Deerhoof to the WNYC Studio for a live performance and to talk a bit about how they put their extraordinary music together.
