Sam Rosen, Nat Baldwin, & Deer Tick

« previous episode | next episode »

Sunday, January 29, 2006

Three young songwriters drop in to the WNYC Studio and join host David Garland to play and talk bout their music. Sam Rosen just turned 18, but he's already busily touring, and here he shows us what he's up to so far. Nat Baldwin has been on Spinning On Air before, as a member of Dirty Projectors. This time he accompanies himself on bowed double-bass as he sings his unusual songs and tells about his transition from hitting a wall in experimentalism to opening his own door into song. John McCauley presents his band Deer Tick, along with bassist Jessica and drummer Paul, and sings about blood moons and dirty dishes. Catch some songwriters as they're beginning to find their own voices.
