Phil Elvrum, Mount Eerie
There's great music on the Internet that's available at the click of a
mouse. Lots of imaginative, wonderful music has been made available
free by its creators, just so it can be heard. Host David Garland has
been filling his hard drive with some obscure treasures, and offers
some of the best on this show, with links so you can get the songs
yourself. There's great stuff by groups you probably haven't heard
before, but will probably want to hear again: Golden Ball, Shapes and
Sizes, Au Revoir Simone, The Physics of Meaning, W-S Burn, and The
Weird Weeds. The centerpiece of the program is "Seven New Songs of
Mount Eerie," a beautiful suite of songs about the woods,
thoughtfulness, and what braids might say if they could sing, by Phil
Elvrum, a guy eloquently connected to his unique muse.
