This time Spinning On Air offers some engaging and surprising responses to the age-old request: Tell me a story! In these stories, music adds a special dimension, making the story more dramatic, more vivid, more exciting, or just more strange than it would otherwise be.
Frank Zappa's "Gregory Peccary" interweaves elaborate orchestrations with the story of a pig who invents the calendar; Brian Dewan synchronizes an ensemble of accordion, harpsichord, organ, percussion, and wheezy violins with his lively recitation of Lewis Carroll's "The Hunting of the Snark"; Peter Blegvad and Andy Partridge offer their musically and narratively surreal lowdown on the current state of affairs of Orpheus; and we hear stories-with-music from Bob Dylan, John Cage, Ken Nordine, Shelley Hirsch, and others.
