The great film score composer Elmer Bernstein died this week (Aug. 18) at age 82. His work spanned movies as diverse as The Ten Commandments, The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape, Robot Monster, Ghost Busters, I Love You Alice B. Toklas, True Grit, To Kill A Mockingbird, and the recent Far From Heaven. In 1993 he joined host David Garland for an in-depth discussion of his work and the art of composing for films. This special three-hour show features many examples of Bernstein's music, and is rebroadcast in memoriam.
