Johann Johannsson

Friday, July 18, 2003

Johann Johannsson is an Icelandic composer whose compelling and extraordinary music isn't yet known in the U.S. That can change tonight as Johannsson joins host David Garland to introduce two of his pieces: "Englaborn," a beautiful work for string quartet, piano, quiet electronics, and a synthesized voice singing in Latin; and an unreleased work for brass orchestra with organ drone. We also hear from other Johannsson projects: the Apparat Organ Quartet, and an organization/label he co-founded, Kitchen Motors.
