French composer Michel Magne (1930-'84) had an ear for the unusual, and his music mixes jazzy elements with musique-concrete, electronics, and a wild imagination for orchestration. We'll hear from three of his projects: the LPs "Musiques Tachiste" and "Tropical Fantasy," and his scores for the bizarre '60s French "Fantomas" movies, which chronicled the exploits of a green-masked James Bond-like anti-hero. While we're on that topic, we hear a take on the "Fantomas" story by the band Fantomas. Plus, Huckleberry Hound's safety tips about walking, bike riding, and skateboarding (in case of the transit strike); and a wide variety of interesting songs.
