Gateway Albums
A best-of Bob Marley collection called "Legend" continues to convert passing fans into reggae enthusiasts. Today: gateway albums of all genres that compel listeners to dig deeper, with singer-songwriter Andrew Bird and journalist Michael Azerrad. Also: alternative-rock godfather Robyn Hitchcock and his band perform live in our studio.
Plus: We reveal our special guests for tomorrow's live broadcast from WNYC's Jerome L. Greene Performance Space. Tune in tomorrow, June 10, for a live set from ... The Decemberists! More info here. Please note: Tickets are no longer available for this event.

What Are Your "Gateway Albums"?
The Bob Marley best-of album "Legend" sends dabblers into reggae’s back catalogs. Miles Davis’ "Kind of Blue" churns out jazz aficionados. And with a cover song telecast on MTV, Nirvana introduced its flanneled fans to bluesman Lead Belly.
Tell us: Which "gateway albums" sparked your curiosity, compelling you to dig deeper?

The Baseball Project aims for a Hit
Like music, baseball has the ability to rouse inspire depths of passion. "The Baseball Project" is the brainchild of Steve Wynn (Dream Syndicate) and Scott McCaughey (Young Fresh Fellows, Minus 5, and R.E.M.'s tour band) who drafted in R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck and drummer Linda Pitmon to perform their songs about iconic figures from baseball history, from Ted Williams and Mark McGwire to Jackie Robinson and Satchel Paige. McCaughey shares some of it with us today.
