Blonde Redhead

Must-See Summer Concerts

One of the best things about summer in New York City is the music. Blonde Redhead (pictured) are just one of the many acts playing free concerts in the city in the coming months. We preview don't-miss concerts, including festivals like River to River, Celebrate Brooklyn, and Central Park's SummerStage series. And, Maura Johnston of the music blog Idolator joins us with a top-10 list of free summer concerts.

Zap Mama

Zap Mama

Marie Daulne founded Zap Mama 15 years ago as a female a cappella group that drew on Congolese pygmy music. It morphed into a full band with Grammy nominations and a knack for genre-busting collaborations with hip-hop group The Roots, neo-soul singer Erykah Badu and others. Zap Mama joins us to play songs from the new album ReCreation.
