    The Next Big String

After nearly five decades together, the Guarneri String Quartet will say farewell to New York on Saturday. We'll hear from the group's violist and look at the next generation of quartets on the scene. Also: songs about the Q train, courtesy of bandleader Roy Nathanson.

Future for Four

Some of the most time-honored, experienced string quartets are calling it quits. Now, younger ensembles are aiming to fill their shoes. Joining us for a look at the future of string quartets are Guarneri String Quartet violist Michael Tree, Chiara String Quartet violist Jonah Sirota, and Ronen Givony of the Wordless Music Series.

Roy Nathanson

Saxophone player and bandleader Roy Nathanson has been called "the Poet on the Q Train." The Brooklyn composer joins us to talk about a CD and poetry book, both called Subway Moon. And, he performs live in our studio.
